Pest Control of Centipedes - The Big Secret Your Exterminator Doesn't Want You to Know!

This will help lock them out and in the process kill house centipedes due to lack of food and cool environment.

You can use chemicals such as insecticides to control centipedes. One of the commonly used insecticides is Drione which is a powder form. You can spread out these insecticides in places where they like hiding. Some of the places where you can use the insecticides are wall cracks, dark corners in the house, basement, and under furniture among others. You can use a residual spray insecticide such as Talstar or Demon WP to spray the yard, and garden. This will keep them away since the insecticide sprays kill house centipedes when they get into contact with it.

House centipedes have got to be one of the ugliest creatures that Mother nature has ever created! But, they do have a purpose on this Earth. This, as I learned later, was not true. Their bites are weak and though poisonous, can not pierce the skin. However, their presence in the house could be a nuisance hence the need for getting rid of centipedes. Pesticides do not always work on them hence the need to use other means to drive them away even without killing them.

The first step that you should take in getting rid of centipedes is the keeping of your house clean. Centipedes feed on food particles or on other dead insects. It is advisable that you always keep your house clean to eliminate this minute food sources for them. You can at least vacuum clean your house once per week to eliminate these particles. This will starve them and thereby drive them away if not starve them to death.

The centipedes' favorable environment is damp. You should therefore keep your house as dry as possible to create unfavorable conditions for the survival of the centipedes. You should clean your basements, closets, all damp places and use dehumidifiers. This will either lead to their vacating or moving out. Centipedes dry out and die if not in a moist environment. Make dryness your house environment and you will not worry about them any more.

Another method that you can use to get rid of centipedes without any chemicals is by the setting of traps. This is very effective especially when you are not certain on the type of insect that you are dealing with. You can use sticky insect traps which are readily available in the shops. These are placed in the breeding areas of the centipedes to capture them. In addition to capturing the centipedes, insect traps will help you know which other types of insects are in your house and therefore help you in their controlling.

Another effective method of getting rid of centipedes is by getting rid of other small household pests. The centipedes feed on these pests and killing them or drawing them away will help you starve the centipedes which will move out to new environments away from your house in search of food. You can do this by using insect or pest repellents, swapping to kill or using insect traps.

Finally, cover all the wall and floor cracks in the house. These are the main entry points of the centipedes. Ensure that the windows and doors are tight enough to keep them out. Chemicals are ineffective to some species.
